Meet the dedicated GreenTrees staff
Delta Manager and Lead Forester
Steve joined the GreenTrees team in May of 2012, following a 35-year career with the Mississippi Forestry Commission.
Steve says, “I had the opportunity to visit several of the GreenTrees projects while working with the State. I was impressed with the 302 cottonwood 302 mixed hardwood concept, using the cottonwoods as trainers. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to join forces with GreenTrees to promote this concept to the landowners interested in planting hardwoods in the Mississippi Alluvial valley.
Steve received a Bachelors Degree in Forestry from Mississippi State University in 1977.
Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta Steve married his junior-high sweetheart. They have two children, one son 36, one daughter 25. Bow hunting is his
other love, especially hunting the bugling bulls in the Rockies in September.
Director of Business Development
Reed is focused on expanding revenue and transactions for the Company. In addition, Reed fosters and maintains customer relationships while strategically aligning business opportunities through a focused effort on building awareness of the complete ecosystem services generated through the Advanced Carbon Restored Ecosystem (ACRE).
Reed says, “GreenTrees was a company that I had been following for almost a decade and was a natural fit for my next career move. It allows me the opportunity to leverage my experience working for several conservation and science driven non-profits, and to continue to drive restoration of our forests and wetlands. Blending conservation and capitalism is more than an novel concept, as I believe it is the way we actually fund the scale of restoration needed to put Nature over the tipping point.”
Before joining GreenTrees Reed worked in development roles at The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, The Carnegie Institution for Science, as campaign manager for the Giant Magellan Telescope Campaign in Pasadena, California, and most recently at The Nature Conservancy as the lead fundraiser for the Northern Virginia wealth market. Reed graduated from George Mason University in 1997 with a BA in Anthropology. Reed enjoys the outdoors, tennis, boating, and hiking and can frequently be found exploring the Virginia Piedmont with his son, Grey and their Golden Retriever, Justin.
Asset Integration Manager
Katherine joined the Company in 2012 and operations has been her focus. She has worked with the world of the landowner and the world of carbon. Connecting them takes just the right individual, one who can link acres, contracts, and tons into effective delivery systems. Increasingly, bringing speed and scale to these linkages so the world of natural capital and business capital join, requires skills of good information management and great tools of technology. With GreenTrees today, everything from the contract on the land, to forestry assessments, carbon yields, and sophisticated tonnage verifications delivered to our landowners and corporate clients is part of the company's strong infrastructure spine. They are critical to revenue generation and the financial oversight and tracking of programs Katherine does. She says simply, "I like to be a vital part of a quality program and see things done right and to a very high standard, and the environmental vision of the company continues very much to inspire the work I do."
In her spare time, Katherine enjoys time with her wonderful husband of 25 years, the sound of a great music playlist, and long rides with her Clydesdale, Jose, and her precious yellow Labrador, Zoie.
